The Ultra Music Festival which just finished up a massive 6-day/double-weekend run will only be three days next year. By most accounts, the 2013 edition of Ultra, which experimented with the dual weekends for the first time this year, came off as a huge success.

According to the official Ultra website, the dates for next year will be March 28-30, 2014.

With 330,000 attendees and over 10 million online viewers (the largest viewed fest in US history), we’re guessing that this decision had less to do with the money and more with the city of Miami. It’s one thing to ask for a single weekend of pure partying, but getting Miami to put up with two weeks of shenanigans may have forced the issue.

Coachella and Austin City Limits will also post double dates later on this festival season. This is old hat for Coachella who came up with the idea in 2012, not to mention organizers of the show have been throwing a second major fest (Stagecoach) right after Coachella for years. It will be interesting to see what happens with ACL, another massive show set in the downtown of a large city.
