It’s our fourth year heading out to Treefort Music Fest and what makes this fest one of our absolute favorites is the sheer amount of music being thrown at us each year. With hundreds of artists on the schedule, odds are you will find something that hits your musical heartbone (yes, it’s a body part that I just invented). Here are a few of the shows that the MFW team will be checking out and hopefully inspire you to track down some new music.

Diarrhea Planet
Friday 12:30 AM – Neurolux

Forget country music. Nashville is cranking out rock and roll and one of their latest exports, Diarrhea Planet, is on fire right now. We’ll be there shouting along all the lyrics to their insta-classic Ghost With a Boner.

San Fermin
Saturday 5:35 PM – Main Stage

Rae Cassidy may no longer be with the band, but San Fermin continues to release operatic indie pop with wild arrangements. This is bound to be one of the more popular acts at Treefort so arrive early for a prime spot and here’s to hoping that it’s a warm spring afternoon in Boise.

Band Dialogue V
Saturday 4:30 – Grove Street at 14th

You know the experience of feeling like that was the coolest fucking thing I’ll see this year? Check out Band Dialogue which features 20 bands this year playing simultaneously in the street all being conducted like a rock-twisted symphony.

Hinds
Thursday 10:30 PM – El Korah Shrine/Friday 11:10 PM – Linen Building

Treefort is getting all international with the Madrid based Hinds. They’ve already played Glastonbury and SXSW so were excited to see what they’re going to bring to Boise during their two sets.

Built to Spill
Friday 7:00 PM – Main Stage/Sunday 11:00 PM – El Korah Shrine

The unofficial patron saints of Treefort are indie legends Built to Spill. The Boise local boys play ever year and every time I’m more excited than the last. If you’re lucky enough, you may even find Doug Martsch bobbing his head alongside you in the crowd. Make sure to end the weekend in style at the El Korah Shrine.

Geographer
Thursday 11:20 PM – Mardi Gras

These indie rock darlings out of San Francisco are also Treefort alumni. Last time we saw them in Idaho, the line stretched around the door. This year they will deservedly play a much larger venue at the Mardi Gras Ballroom. You should try to arrive early to catch a spot.

YACHT
Saturday 8:50 PM – Main Stage/Sunday 12:30 AM – Neurolux

If you like dancing to super catchy electropop, than make some plans to be at one of the YACHT shows. The Saturday night show should be packed and a festival highlight. If you still have any gas left in the tank, their Sunday show at the much smaller Neurolux bar should be amazing.

Thee Oh Sees
Thursday 11:45 PM – El Korah Shrine

I’ve got nothing to say about the Thee Oh Sees other than I’ve been listening to them for years, have never seen them live, and they’re playing at my favorite venue at Treefort. I can’t even find a video of my favorite song so just stare at this static video for the next few minutes.

White Denim
Saturday 7:00 PM – Main Stage

With six records under their belt, the Austin based White Denim is a perfect fit for early evening indie rock on the big stage. Hell, it’s going to be hard to leave the Main Stage with this Saturday night lineup — hopefully Alefort will be located close by.

Born during a backstage Bonnaroo downpour, Vito's mission in life is to dance, write, and travel to all the great festivals that this wide world has to offer.
