TreeFort

One of the best parts of the Treefort Music Festival (March 21-24, 2013) is stumbling strolling into random venues and catching acts that you’ve never heard of before. This is not that article. Below are some of the headlining acts that need a reminder set on your cell phone.

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
FRIDAY 3/22, Main Stage, 8:30pm – 10pm

It’s Friday. It’s the main stage. It’s nothing but old school energy with Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. They’re one of the most high profile bands at Treefort, and for good reason. With all the indie rocking and rapping and electronic, this solid shot of pure soul is the perfect way to kick off the weekend.

I Learned the Hard Way

Camper Van Beethoven
SUNDAY 3/24: El Korah Shrine: 9:00pm – 9:50pm

File this act under “bands that broke up that I thought I would never see live”. Formed back in 1983, the early indie rockers released three albums in 18 months before disbanding. Not your standard music festival fare, Camper Van Beethoven should be one of the most popular sets at Treefort.

Pictures of Matchstick Men (MTV Video!)

The Walkmen
SATURDAY 3/23, Main Stage, 8:30pm – 10pm

The Walkmen, always a solid bet, have been hitting the festival circuit hard during the past couple years. Now in their 10th year, the New York Band will headline Saturday night at Treefort — a great match for a (hopefully) warm spring evening.

Heaven

Built To Spill
SUNDAY 3/24, El Korah Shrine, 10pm – 11:30pm

The Boise hometown heros will headline three nights of Treefort Fest. On Friday, they play their entire first album in its entirety while Saturday will be more of a standard set. But we’re really looking forward to Sunday when the indie legends will play an entire set of cover songs.

Hindisght

Youth Lagoon
SUNDAY 3/24, Main Stage, 5:30pm – 6:15pm

Another Boise native, Trevor Powers aka Youth Lagoon, plays some powerful dream-pop. I’m guessing around evening-time on Sunday, we’re going to be ready to chill hard. Also, this is a very good video below. Check it out.
