The SnowBall Music Festival, Colorado’s now annual springtime bash in the mountains, is changing locales from scenic Avon to scenic Winter Park. The dates for this year will be from March 8-10, 2013. The SnowBall fest features a big mix of names focusing mostly on electronic and jam. Check out some photos here from the first SnowBall.

After wrangling with local town leaders, Snowball called it quits with Avon this previous summer. Several city council member were ready to withdraw the town’s invitation citing as a reason — drug use (gasp!).

We can vouch firsthand that getting out is a great move for SnowBall. The Vail Valley is just too stuffy for a full on music festival. The year we attended, there was an overabundance of lawmen just itching to bust teenagers smoking weed. Plus, the event was held seven miles away from hoity-toity Beaver Creek, a situation that hopefully will be rectified at Winter Park. C’mon! I gots to be able to ride into the festival right off the slopes.

Details for tickets and lineup will be coming soon.
