The Scene: FYF Fest 2013 Photos and Recap

The first day of FYF Fest flew by — lots of spectacular performances and fun moments, but some of the standouts were The Breeders who were celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their album Last Splash, the always strange and entertaining Bradford Cox of Deerhunter sporting a wig and dress during their set, and the impeccable headliners the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (that Karen O is a firecracker). Oh, and let’s not forget the guy in the full spandex body suit shooting confetti out of his butt during STRFKR.

On day two the crowd was in full force and the musicians were on top of their game. After an impressive first day it was interesting to imagine what the day would hold. Short answer: a giant conga line during Poolside, a Syrian-style dance party courtesy of Omar Souleman, Les Savy Fav’s Tim Harrington stripping down then climbing a tree and riding a ladder carried by fans through the crowd, The Fonze a.k.a. Henry Winkler, played the giant cowbell for MGMT, and the loudest live performance possibly ever by My Bloody Valentine.
