The Scene

The annual Pitchfork Music Festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park every July. The lineup features emerging music along with established acts.

Pitchfork’s Pitch:
“Since 2006, this independently run festival has consistently proven to be one of the most welcoming, comfortable, reasonably priced, and rewarding weekends of music around.”

Tickets

For a major downtown festival, Pitchfork offers an amazing value — so it’s no surprise that $120 3-day tickets have sold out. Saturday and Sunday single day tickets are both sold out as well, but you still have a shot of picking up a Friday ticket for only $60.

Tips

  • Getting tired of lugging all your crap around? Pool some money with your friends and get a locker. $40 for all three days and you can leave items overnight.
  • Don’t love the headliners? Like an old couple heading to the early buffet, ducking out during the final set means you won’t be waiting in lines for the bus, taxi, or train.
  • Or you can skip the traffic all together and ride your bike. Pitchfork offers secure parking in bike valet log at the southeast corner of Ashland and Lake.
  • Can’t make the festival. Watch the stream live at Pitchfork.com
