The four days of the Winnipeg Folk Festival (July 9-12) hosted a diverse range of both mellow and danceable folk and world acts. Wilco, Bahamas, Jose Gonzalez and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes stood among the most memorable main stage acts. Opportunities to relax in the sunshine or shade included concerts and workshops by Kurt Vile and Steve Gunn, who played songs from The Violators, as well as their acoustic solo work. The Big Blue at Night stage served as festival dance headquarters, featuring the esoteric instrumental production of Barmer Boys + DJ Spincycle, and hyphy Latin hip hoppers Mexican Institute of Sound.
