Sad news for metal and jam festival fans. A couple of long running fests will be on hiatus during 2015. moe.down, which has been running for 15 consecutive seasons in upstate New York will be taking a break. Don’t worry, you can still catch plenty of .moe at the annual Summer Camp Festival. Here’s the note from their website:

“There aren’t very many band-driven festivals in the Northeast, or even around the country, that can say they’ve gone on for fifteen consecutive years with the success we have had. We will keep everyone informed on what the plans are for years to come, as we look ahead at the future of the festival.”

Over in the UK, the metal themed Sonisphere also won’t happen. Sonisphere started in 2009 as a traveling festival tour and at its height boasted a dozen countries. In the last two years, they’ve dialed it back to the just the UK show. From their website:

“We’ve been working hard to get a line-up that we felt was good enough but also on a weekend which would avoid other events that we know rock fans would want to support. Unfortunately our last irons in the fire have just been extinguished and it’s clear that we won’t be in a position to run the event this year. We’ve said in the past that Sonisphere will only go ahead if we feel it is going to be good enough and that hasn’t changed.”
