Heavy Montreal, the headbanger haven festival of Canada, has announced that they’ll be taking 2017 off. The event organizers have stated that venue renovations and Montreal’s 375th Anniversary celebrations contributed to the decision to go on hiatus.

Not going to lie, this one is a personal blow for the MFW team. In a region starved for more metal/rock festivals, Heavy Montreal was one of the few bright spots of the summer for genre fans. We had a blast on our last trip there a few years back. On the plus side, organizers Evenko, are behind the hugely successful Osheaga Festival, so we fully expect a return.

Heavy Montreal will be back July 28-29, 2018.
