Ever have one of those moments where you look at a fest lineup and it feels like someone cobbled it together from your Spotify playlists, your Google search history and your fever dreams? That’s how I felt when I looked at the lineup for Levitation Fest 2019. Slated for November 7-10 of this year, the fest will feature some of my favorite acts like Torche, High on Fire, Dinosaur Jr. and Black Mountain. Levitation was originally focused on psychedelic rock, and this year’s lineup feels like it was grown in a vat to tickle the psych- stoner- doom-metal centers of my brain and release that sweet, sweet dopamine into my brain.
In fact, it’s not just my brain – when I sent the link to a like-minded friend, he had bought his passes before I even tried to sell him on it. I haven’t been to Austin in almost twenty years, but this will be the thing that gets me there. Bonus points for a bunch of the shows happening at Stubbs BBQ Austin, so expect to watch me get heavy while these bands do the same.
Keep in mind that this is just the “Phase One” lineup – more bands are presumably coming down the pike.
