Slipknot has become the lastest band to join the artist DIY festival trend. Knotfest, will take place August 17th in Council Bluffs, Iowa and August 18th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The lineup will include Deftones, Lamb of God, Dethklok (yes, the band from that insane Adult Swim cartoon), Serj Tankian, Cannibal Corpse, The Urge, Prong, Goijira, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and more.

According to an exclusive in Rolling Stone, Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan said “It’s time for us to really engulf this idea known as Knotfest where we’re in control, we make a day devoted to our mindset, our ideas, the people that we want to play with, the people that we think our fans want to be around.”

Slipknot is promising a “dark carnival experience” so expect to see circus big-top tents, pillars of fire, amusement park rides, burlesque performers, firebreathers, stilt walkers, and a Slipknot museum. Sounds like a familiar twist to the pioneering dark carnival masters, Insane Clown Posse and The Gathering of the Juggalos.

Tickets: Single day passes to each show go on sale June 8th at 10am.
