Last summer, I tried traveled with a SCOTTeVEST jacket that provided mostly positive results, and by positive, I mean I saved a TON of money by not paying airline baggage fees. For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, SCOTTeVEST makes clothing that is packed with low-key pockets, sort of like an undercover fisherman’s vest with a lot more street style.
I’ll be upping my secret pocket game this year with the Q.U.E.S.T. Vest ($175 USD), which comes with a whopping 42 compartments. You can read more about how I used SCOTTeVEST to dodge airline baggage fees in my review of the Tropiformer, but the gist is that I load up the jacket with all my heavy electronics and camping gear, throw a button down shirt over the vest, and stroll onto the plane.
With the expanded capacity of the Q.U.E.S.T. Vest, here’s what I’ll have buried when I take off next week for the annual 100 Nights of Summer total. The total weight of the pocket items comes out to 4.65 lb (2.1 kg).
- Laptop security cord (5.7 oz)
- Laptop charger (7.8 oz)
- Power adapters (US/EU/UK) (5 oz)
- Camera charger/additional battery (7.2 oz)
