IHeartRadio coming to Las Veags this September.
Remember the radio? It used to be our main lifelink to new music before the Internet came along. For awhile it looked like radio’s days were numbered, but then Clear Channel stepped in and created a monster of force-fed playlists played by heartless DJs. Last year they threw a party featuring the only bands that still survive on the teat of this corporate behemoth including Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Steven Tyler, The Black Eyed Peas, Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Sting, Carrie Underwood, Jane’s Addiction, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Rascal Flatts, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Sublime with Rome and Jeff Beck.
If I’m sounding a little bitter over the state of the airwaves in 2012, that’s because I was reminded last week at The Treefort Festival just how amazing community radio can be. Just check out scrappy upstart KRBX out of Boise, Idaho, who actually believe that a local radio station should be, you know, be local.
Anyway, the iHeartRadio Music Festival was so successful last year, that they’re doing it again. Las Vegas. Ryan Seacrest. September 21-22.
