The quirky Halloween-time festival known as Moogfest has released their 2011 lineup. STS9, Flaming Lips and Passion Pit are on the bill along with Ghostland Observatory, Crystal Castles, Chromeo, Battles, Holy Fuck, and Umphrey’s McGee. This is only an initial lineup. We’re hoping to see a final lineup by the end of August.
The festival takes place October 28-30, 2011 at various downtown venues in Asheville, North Carolina. 3-day passes are starting around $150.
Moogfest is named after legendary local hero, Bob Moog, a pioneer of electronic music. The website advises to “get ready for a musical voyage into the fourth dimension!” Moogfest kicked off for the first time last year with attendance around 24,000.
