Festival Gear: Klymit Traverse Hammock Review
By / July 7, 2021

The Music Festival Wizard team is out in Montana for our annual gear testing weekend! Our outdoor office this weekend is the Upper Beartrap Canyon on the Madison River and today we are cozying up into the Traverse, a portable camping hammock from Klymit.

Traverse Hammock By The Numbers

Capacity: 450 lbs / 204 kg
Material: 75D Polyester
Dimensions: 110 x 55 in / 280 x 140 cm
Weight: 1.8 lbs / 28.7 oz

Comfort and Chilling
Out of all the travel hammocks we have been sleeping in over the last couple weeks, the Klymit scored the highest for comfort. The polyester is very soft and all testers said this would be the one they would prefer to spend the night in. For a single person hammock, it’s surprisingly roomy and the included straps made set-up a snap.

Weight and Size
At just under 28 ounces, we had no complaints with the size. The included 11-foot straps have a solid feel to them and boast 18 attachment points along with 2 included carabiners. Everything from the straps to the hammock to the carabineers are some of the smallest and lightweight gear we have come across making this very packable.

Final Thoughts
When I head back to Europe for the next festival season, this is the travel hammock that will be in my bag. The size, weight, and high quality build all make this an excellent hammock for traveling around the world. Stay tuned for the end of summer roundup where we revisit all the hammocks tested this year to see how they hold up. Check out more Klymit hammocks here
