Debut Moonrise Festival Cancelled by City of Baltimore

A new music festival scheduled to take place in Baltimore has been cancelled just weeks before kickoff. Organizers of the Moonrise Festival (June 8-9, 2013) couldn’t secure a much needed permit from the city. Whoops.

From the website:

“It is with a heavy heart that we regret to announce the cancellation of this year’s Moonrise Festival. Although we have put everything we had into this event trying to make it happen we have hit a roadblock that we just cannot overcome as the final permit needed will not be approved.”

Moonlight was supposed to be the successor to the Starscape Festival, a long running rave that was denied by the city this year because of drug overdoses and overcrowding in 2012. Seems like a dick move from the city to wait until three weeks before the event to deny the permit…
