After months of speculation, the Wavefront Music Festival in Chicago has announced via Facebook that there won’t be an event this year. No reason was given, but there’s been issues with the city council from the middle of winter into spring. In a subtle and well-deserved jab, Wavefront lists the massive music festivals that Chicago will allow in 2014. They also promise to be back in 2015.
With Wavefront out of the picture and the Electric Daisy Carnival opting not to come back, the EDM festival scene has taken a few hits this year, but fans of electronic music still have the option of Spring Awakening and the North Coast Music Festival.
Here’s the Facebook statement:
“In response to the countless inquiries we’ve received over the past year, we regret to announce that Wavefront Music Festival has been postponed until 2015. As always, THANK YOU for your endless support and positive vibes. We WILL be back – until then hang tight and enjoy the rest of the events this summer in our amazing city of Chicago including Lollapalooza,Pitchfork, Riverwest Music Festival, Riot Fest and all of the others.”
