After a turbulent 2011, which saw BamaJam cancelled and its founder brought up on criminal charges, organizers of the popular Alabama festival have announced dates for this year. BamaJam will return to Enterprise from June 14-16, 2012. There’s no word on a lineup but expect lots of country/rock acts. Previous years have included Kid Rock, Taylor Swift, Hank Williams, and the Disco Biscuits.
Last year, BamaJam founder Ronnie Gilley pleaded guilty to five counts of bribery unrelated to the festival. He got mixed up in a electronic bingo casino (seriously, electronic bingo?) scandal which led him unable to pull of the show. Refunds were belatedly offered and we received dozens of comments on how badly fans got burned. It will be interesting to see how the new organizers handle the 2012 edition. BamaJam was sorely missed last year.
